Watching a couple bicker about the specifics of their relationship can be illuminating when done right, but here it becomes a chore, the problems they encounter feeling contrived and silly. What if they pressed fast-forward and experienced the ups and downs of it all in just 24 hours, without sleep, and with sex on the hour? I thought it meandered, over-explained things and I found the relationship between Dern and Burstyn a bit phony.
